Former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen hopes Thomas Frank is given time to implement his ideas at Tottenham.
Christian Eriksen has expressed his support for Thomas Frank, saying he hopes the Tottenham Hotspur head coach is given enough time to implement his ideas during a difficult period for the club.
Eriksen spoke about Frank’s current situation in an interview, drawing on his own experiences playing under the Danish coach at Brentford and his previous spell with Spurs.
Asked whether he was surprised by Frank’s struggles in north London, Eriksen admitted his feelings were mixed, highlighting the stark difference in pressure between the two roles.
“Yes and no,” Eriksen explained. “The pressure is bigger. Of course, Brentford for a long time was a safe place.”
Eriksen noted that Frank has now stepped into a very different environment, one defined by heightened expectations, constant scrutiny, and a demand for immediate results.
“Now he is in a new place with new eyes, and people want something different,” Eriksen said. “I hope he gets the time to change things and show what he can do. But I know football moves quickly.”
The former Tottenham playmaker also acknowledged the harsh realities of modern football, where new ideas are quickly replaced if results fail to follow, making patience increasingly rare at the top level.
Frank is currently under growing pressure to retain his position, with reports suggesting Tottenham’s hierarchy have already discussed alternative options following Saturday’s home defeat to West Ham United.
With Borussia Dortmund visiting on Tuesday and having scored in all 14 of their away games this season, Frank faces a crucial night that could determine whether he remains in charge at Tottenham.
