Former Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has issued an emotional farewell message, thanking supporters for their crucial backing and reflecting on his time at Stamford Bridge after his New Year’s Day departure.

Former Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has spoken publicly for the first time since his departure, saying he leaves the club with “inner peace” after an 18-month spell that delivered silverware and European success.

The 45-year-old parted ways with the Blues on New Year’s Day following an apparent breakdown in his relationship with the club’s hierarchy, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

Despite Chelsea’s difficult run of form prior to his exit — with just one win in seven Premier League matches — Maresca departed with the club sitting fifth in the table and still firmly in contention for Champions League qualification.

In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, Maresca reflected on his journey, which began in the preliminary rounds of the Europa Conference League. “I leave with the inner peace of leaving a prestigious club like Chelsea where it deserves to be,” he wrote.

Maresca reserved special praise for the club’s supporters, stressing the role they played in the team’s achievements. He described their backing as “crucial” in helping Chelsea secure Champions League qualification, win the Conference League, and lift the Club World Cup.

He also paid tribute to his players, thanking them for their commitment and togetherness throughout his time in charge, and described the experience as a “wonderful journey” he will always cherish.

Maresca signed off by wishing everyone connected with the club success for the remainder of the season and beyond, as Chelsea now moves forward under new head coach Liam Rosenior, who was confirmed as his successor on Tuesday.
