Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca shares insights on what his team needs to improve after a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has pinpointed two crucial areas his team needs to work on following their 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Blues struggled to cope with the tempo of the game, ultimately succumbing to a 2-0 deficit before mounting a late comeback.

According to Maresca, Chelsea’s slow start was a significant factor in their defeat. “We need to reflect on not starting well,” Maresca said, emphasizing the importance of beginning matches on a strong note. This lack of intensity and focus at the beginning of the game seemed to set the tone for the rest of the match.

Maresca also stressed the need for Chelsea to elevate their standards as a collective unit. “We need to raise our standards,” he emphasized, suggesting that the team’s current level of performance is not sufficient to compete with top-tier teams.

The match was marked by controversy, with both Robert Sanchez and Casemiro receiving red cards. Maresca acknowledged the challenges of playing with 10 men but emphasized the importance of learning from the experience. “Whether it is 10 men each, it is always difficult from 2-0 down,” he said. “We have played in the Premier League long enough now, so we just have to learn from this and move forward.”

The Blues will look to regroup and address the issues Maresca highlighted as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
