Real Madrid forward Endrick is close to joining Lyon on loan in January. The French club in advanced talks with the Spanish club to bring the 19-year-old in for the remainder of the season.

Endrick has struggled for minutes under Xabi Alonso, featuring for only 11 minutes so far this campaign. Madrid believe a temporary move could give the teenager the regular playing time he needs to continue his development after a difficult start to life in Spain.

The player’s representatives have previously denied interest in having him leave the Bernabeu, but sources close to current negotiations say the deal is well advanced.

Lyon are expected to cover part of the player’s wages. The agreement would run until the end of the current season, and Madrid are not believed to be considering a permanent exit.

Endrick joined the European champions from Palmeiras in the summer of 2024 with a lot of anticipation surrounding his transfer. He showed promise in his first season, scoring seven goals in 37 appearances under Carlo Ancelotti, even though only seven of those were starts.

However, since Alonso’s appointment in May opportunities have been limited for the Brazilian. He is understood to be happy at the club despite limited action and is committed to succeeding there, but his camp sees a loan as a necessary step for his development, especially in the hope of boosting his chances of making Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad.

The teenager has already made 14 senior appearances for Brazil but has been omitted from recent squads due to his lack of playing time at club level.
