Borussia Dortmund survived a late scare in a 4-3 win over Mamelodi Sundowns.
Borussia Dortmund locked horns with South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns in their second group game of the Club World Cup. Both teams came into this game looking for a win, which made this fixture very exciting, even for neutrals.
The game started with Mamelodi Sundowns dominating. They were the better team for most of the game, even though the scoreline didn’t end in their favour.
Sundowns went ahead thanks to a goal from Lucas Ribeiro. The winger tore through the heart of the Dortmund midfield and defense before slotting it past Kobel in goal.
Dortmund equalised five minutes later through Nmecha after he was gifted a chance from a poor back pass by Williams. Dortmund went ahead for the first time through Guirassy, then Bellingham added a third in the 45th minute. It was his first goal in his first start for his new club. He eventually won the man of the match.

In the second half, Dortmund were outplayed by Mamelodi Sundowns, and an own goal by Mudau earned them a fourth goal, but the game was far from over.
Sundowns added a second goal to their tally through Rayners and then set up a tough ending to the game after Mothiba’s goal in the 90th minute.
The ending minutes of the game could’ve seen the game end in a draw, but Dortmund were lucky to escape with a win. Dortmund top the group temporarily and will need a win in their final game against Ulsan if they want to secure qualification to the next round.
