Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl confirms Fabio Silva will not be leaving the club in the winter transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl has ruled out a winter transfer for Fabio Silva, saying the striker will be staying at the club.

Silva has seen limited playing time since joining Dortmund from Wolverhampton last summer, sparking speculation about a potential exit.

Kehl emphasized that Dortmund has no desire to let Silva go, stating, “Fabio will stay. I have no desire to let him go. Why should we do that?” He added that he’s not entertaining reports suggesting Silva could leave.

The decision comes after Silva was linked with a potential winter exit, with Real Betis reportedly interested in signing him on loan with a purchase option. Kehl, however, is adamant that Silva is staying put.

Despite Silva’s limited playing time, Kehl believes the striker has potential and is a valuable addition to the team. Silva joined Dortmund in August 2025 for a reported €22.5 million, with an additional €4 million in bonuses.

Kehl also hinted that Dortmund may be active in the transfer market, saying, “Maybe it will be at the beginning of January, but there will be one or two squad changes – nothing crazy. Let’s see what happens.”
