Borussia Dortmund secured a 1-0 win against Ulsan Hyundai in their final Club World Cup game to reach the knockout stages.
Borussia Dortmund secured their place in the Club World Cup round of 16 with a 1-0 victory over Ulsan Hyundai on Wednesday.
A first-half goal from Daniel Svensson proved to be the difference between the two teams, as Dortmund dominated possession and created several scoring opportunities.
The German side started strongly, with Jobe Bellingham, Felix Nmecha, and Karim Adeyemi posing a constant threat to Ulsan’s defense. Svensson’s close-range strike in the 36th minute was the culmination of Dortmund’s pressure, and it proved to be enough to secure the win.
Ulsan goalkeeper Hyeon-Woo Jo made several impressive saves to prevent Dortmund from extending their lead, denying Serhou Guirassy’s header and strikes from Pascal Gross and Yan Couto.
Despite Ulsan’s efforts to create chances in the second half, Dortmund’s defense held firm, and Jo’s performance was a highlight of the match.
With this win, Borussia Dortmund finished top of Group F, ahead of Brazilian side Fluminense, who drew 0-0 with Mamelodi Sundowns. Dortmund will now look forward to their next match against the Group E runners-up in Atlanta next Tuesday.
