Borussia Dortmund has agreed to sell winger Jamie Gittens to Chelsea in a deal worth £48.5 million plus £3.5 million in add-ons.
The 20-year-old England Under-21 player has been a key figure for Dortmund since joining from Manchester City in 2020, scoring 17 goals and providing 14 assists in 107 games.
Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, expressed satisfaction with the deal, stating that the negotiations were challenging but ultimately beneficial for the club’s financial ambitions. Gittens has reportedly agreed to a seven-year contract with Chelsea.
The transfer was agreed upon during a meeting between the two clubs in Fort Lauderdale, where they are both participating in the Club World Cup. However, Gittens won’t be able to play for Chelsea until after the tournament.
This deal marks another significant transfer for Dortmund, and the club wishes Gittens all the best in his future endeavors.
Chelsea have been active in the summer transfer market, with recent signings including Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Dario Essugo, and Mamadou Sarr, and is expecting the arrival of Estevao Willian after his Club World Cup campaign with Palmeiras.
