Chelsea has accepted a £25 million bid from Bournemouth for goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović, confirming the transfer of the Serbian international to the Premier League club.
Petrović, who joined Chelsea from New England Revolution in 2023, fell down the pecking order after Enzo Maresca’s arrival and was loaned to sister side Strasbourg for the 2024-25 season. The loan deal included a gentleman’s agreement for a £25 million permanent transfer this summer.
Petrović has agreed to join Bournemouth on a five-year contract and will undergo a medical next week before finalizing his move. The 25-year-old goalkeeper will replace Kepa Arrizabalaga, who joined Arsenal after his loan spell with Bournemouth ended last season.
Petrović’s impressive performances during his loan spell at Strasbourg, where he kept 10 clean sheets, likely played a significant role in Bournemouth’s decision to sign him.
The transfer is part of Chelsea’s efforts to sell fringe players and raise funds after a summer of heavy spending.
Other players who spent last season out on loan, including Axel Disasi, Renato Veiga, Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling, and João Félix, are also available for transfer. Chelsea is expected to raise £52 million from the sale of Noni Madueke to Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Strasbourg’s search for a replacement for Petrović is expected to lead them to Chelsea youngster Mike Penders, who will reportedly join the French club on a season-long loan.
