Tottenham forward Dominic Solanke has undergone minor surgery to resolve an ankle injury, ruling him out of upcoming matches against Bodo/Glimt and Leeds.

Tottenham forward Dominic Solanke has undergone minor surgery to resolve an ankle injury that has been bothering him for some time.

The 28-year-old England striker had been absent from training, and Spurs boss Thomas Frank confirmed that Solanke would not be ready for the upcoming Champions League match against Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday or the Premier League match against Leeds on Saturday.

Frank explained that the surgery was a small procedure, and while Solanke’s return to action will depend on his recovery, the coach doesn’t expect it to be a long-term absence. “We’ll have more news about a time frame after the international break, but I don’t expect it to be long,” Frank said.

Solanke had missed the majority of pre-season with an ankle issue, but it appeared to be fixed by the start of August. However, the injury has flared up again, and the club has decided to opt for surgery to resolve the issue. Frank was asked whether the club could have opted for surgery sooner, but he replied that it was not that easy. “If we knew we could have done the surgery a month ago, we probably would have done it,” he said.

The Spurs boss emphasized that the club deals with injuries as they come and that no one wants surgery unless it’s necessary. “For me, I am always ‘it is what it is’,” Frank said. “We deal with it now and no doubt the way we dealt with it was because we thought that was the right thing. In general, no one wants surgery.”

Solanke’s absence will be a blow to Tottenham, who are currently fourth in the Premier League with 11 points from their opening six matches. The team has also progressed to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup and won their first Champions League game of the season against Villarreal.

The timeline for Solanke’s return will become clearer after the international break, but Tottenham fans will be eagerly awaiting his comeback. With the right treatment and recovery, Solanke can return to fitness and help Tottenham achieve their goals.
