Federico Dimarco recorded three assists as Inter hammered Sassuolo 5-0 to extend their lead in the Serie A title race to eight points.

Inter Milan tightened their grip on top spot in Serie A with a dominant 5-0 victory over Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium, opening up an eight-point gap in the Serie A table. The 5-0 win also extended the Nerazzurri’s unbeaten league run to 12 matches.

Sassuolo nearly stunned the leaders inside the opening minute when Koné’s close-range effort beat Sommer, only for Federico Dimarco to produce a crucial goal-line clearance. That early scare served as a warning, but it was Inter who soon imposed themselves on the contest.

After 11 minutes, Dimarco turned provider with a superb corner that was met by a powerful Bisseck header, handing Inter the lead and marking the defender’s second Serie A goal of the season. Sassuolo were fortunate not to fall further behind shortly after, as another Bisseck effort was blocked at the last moment.

Inter continued to dominate possession and territory, with Dimarco again at the heart of everything. The wing-back came close to scoring himself when his long-range free-kick crashed against the woodwork.

The pressure finally told again as Dimarco delivered an exquisite cross from the left, allowing Marcus Thuram to poke home from close range and double Inter’s advantage. Sassuolo briefly thought they had pulled one back before half-time through Kristian Thorstvedt, but VAR intervened to rule the effort out for offside.

Any lingering hope for the hosts vanished shortly after the restart. A defensive lapse allowed Lautaro Martínez to chest the ball down and fire beyond Murić for Inter’s third, before Dimarco completed a hat-trick of assists with another pinpoint corner that Manuel Akanji headed home.

The evening went from bad to worse for Sassuolo when Nemanja Matić was sent off for dissent, leaving his side a man down. Inter showed no mercy, adding a fifth goal through a composed Luis Henrique finish to cap a ruthless display.

With five consecutive wins in all competitions, Inter now turn their attention to a heavyweight clash against Juventus, while Sassuolo remain 11th after a hefty defeat at the hands of the league leaders
