Inter Milan announced that Denzel Dumfries has undergone surgery for his ankle injury and is expected to be out for 2-3 months.

Dumfries had been struggling with the ankle problem, which took longer than expected to heal. He decided to undergo surgery after consulting with specialists and is now following a rehabilitation program.

Inter Milan are likely to seek a replacement in the January transfer window.

The injury raises questions about Dumfries’ future at Inter Milan, especially after he changed agents and is linked with several Premier League clubs. He has a release clause worth €25 million, valid until July.

Inter Milan are currently top of Serie A, but Dumfries’ absence is a significant blow. The club will look to strengthen its right flank in January, with Rafik Belghali of Hellas Verona being a potential target.
