Chelsea’s new signing, Liam Delap, opens up on why he chose the Blues, citing the project’s excitement and reuniting with familiar faces.
“I know a lot of the players here and the project of the club, how they see the future. That’s what excited me,” said Liam Delap, Chelsea’s new £30m signing.
Delap revealed that the club’s project and vision for the future played a significant role in his decision to join the Blues.
Delap also spoke about his conversation with Chelsea star Cole Palmer, whom he played with at Manchester City. “I asked him what I needed to ask him, and he told me what I needed to know. But I don’t like too much information. Ultimately, it was my decision, so I kind of just want my head to be clear,” he said.
When asked if he hopes to emulate Palmer’s success, Delap replied, “Yeah, of course, that’s the goal. I think we both had similar positions and he’s gone and smashed it, so hopefully I can also.”
Delap also downplayed the idea of Chelsea’s number nine shirt being cursed, saying, “No, I’m not that type of person. It’s something that people talk about, but it doesn’t mean anything to me.”
