Liam Delap scores his first Chelsea goal and hopes it’s the start of a prolific run for the Blues.
“Obviously, it is a really happy feeling and hopefully it is the first of many,” said Liam Delap after scoring his first Chelsea goal in the 3-0 win over ES Tunis.
Delap praised Enzo Fernandez’s pass that led to his goal, saying, “I spoke to Enzo and he told me when he gets the ball to just run. It was a great pass, and luckily it went in.”
The young striker expressed his joy playing for Chelsea, saying, “I love playing football, and to play for such a good team is a great feeling.”
Delap also highlighted the team’s relief and happiness at advancing to the next stage of the competition, adding, “We had to win to get through, and we are all happy we are into the next stage.”
Delap’s goal was the main highlight of the match, showcasing his skill and agility on the pitch. He received a clever pass from Enzo Fernandez, turned brilliantly to beat one defender and flick past another, before rolling the ball past the goalkeeper.
This was not an isolated moment, as Delap had created the first chance of the night earlier in the match, skipping around two challenges before having his shot saved.
His performance yesterday demonstrated his potential and why Chelsea invested heavily in him, and he will be eager to build on this start to his Chelsea career.
