Controversial social media post comes as Real Madrid prepare to face Dortmund in New York for a place in the semi-finals

The father of Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen has taken a dig at Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City ahead of Los Blancos’ Club World Cup quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund.

Don Huijsen posted a satirical image on Instagram mocking the three clubs for not participating in the expanded tournament.

The edited bracket listed them as matched up against fictional sides such as “Al-Sofa” and “Remote Control”, implying their players are stuck watching the action from home rather than competing.

The post comes as Real Madrid prepare to face Dortmund in New York for a place in the semi-finals, where they would meet either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich.

Huijsen’s son, Dean, has been one of Madrid’s standouts in the tournament so far. The 20-year-old centre-back joined Los Blancos from Bournemouth earlier this summer. He has received praise for his composure and physical presence.

Huijsen Senior’s post has fuelled fan debate, particularly Barcelona supporters, with the Catalan club having failed to qualify for the Stateside tournament.
