Youngster could be involved in the semi-final or potentially the final
Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen has returned to training ahead of the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Atletico Madrid on Thursday.
The centre-back has recovered from a thigh injury that kept him out of the game against Real Betis on Sunday. He missed training on Saturday and was not named in the squad for Sunday, but he was available in training on Monday and sources at the club expect him to travel to Saudi Arabia with the rest of the group.
Madrid play their local rivals Atletico in the semi-final, and if they go win, they will face either Barcelona or Athletic Club.
“He was feeling some discomfort and we wanted to be a bit cautious,” head coach Xabi Alonso said of Huijsen ahead of the game against Bilbao, which Madrid eventually won 5-1. “It was a minor issue and we will decide [on Sunday].”
Huijsen has been sidelined for several games due to fitness since joining Madrid from Bournemouth in the summer. He has played 17 matches in all for the club so far.
