Kevin De Bruyne has rejoined Napoli’s first-team training 128 days after a severe hamstring injury, with the Belgian star targeting a spot on the bench against Torino this Friday.

In October 2025, Kevin De Bruyne saw his season with Napoli come to a pause during the game against Inter Milan. After successfully converting a penalty, he suffered a hamstring tear that was so severe it required immediate surgery.

To ensure the best possible recovery environment, the former Manchester City star spent the majority of his time away from the spotlight in his native Belgium.

Before that ill-fated penalty, De Bruyne was arguably one of the most influential players in Serie A. In just 11 competitive appearances for Napoli, he had already racked up four goals and two assists, dictating the tempo of games with the surgical precision that has defined his career. His absence left a noticeable creative void in Napoli’s attacking transitions, making his return feel like a massive mid-season signing just as the battle for the top four intensifies.

The excitement of his return wasn’t just limited to the locker room; De Bruyne took to social media to share his joy with the fans. Posting photos of himself back in the thick of a first-team session, his grin said more than any caption ever could.

The response from the Napoli supporters was instantaneous, with thousands of comments welcoming him back and expressing hope that his presence will provide the spark needed to close out the campaign on a high note.

While the fans are eager to see him back in the starting lineup, the medical staff is expected to take a measured approach. Having only just returned to group training today, he is still working his way back to full match fitness. However, there is growing speculation that he could make a symbolic return to the matchday squad as early as this Friday. While a start is unlikely, having De Bruyne on the bench for the clash against Torino would be a massive psychological advantage for Napoli.
