The Bayern Munich defender is reportedly interested in joining the La Liga giants when his contract expires in 2026.

Bayern Munich might be facing the risk of losing one of their key defenders, Dayot Upamecano, on a free transfer next summer.

According to reports from Marca, Upamecano has expressed his desire to join Real Madrid when his contract expires in 2026. This move would be a significant loss for Bayern Munich, which has been trying to negotiate a new deal with the French defender.

Upamecano’s agent has reportedly told Real Madrid about his client’s interest in joining the La Liga giants. The Spanish club is said to be interested in signing Upamecano, who has become a top-class defender since joining Bayern Munich in 2021.

The 26-year-old defender has been instrumental in Bayern Munich’s success, winning three Bundesliga titles with the club. However, his contract negotiations with Bayern have stalled, with the club reportedly unwilling to meet his salary demands.

Upamecano recently left his future open, stating that his agent is in talks with Bayern Munich, but there’s nothing more to say at this point.

Real Madrid are not the only club interested in Upamecano’s services, but he’s reportedly keen on joining Los Blancos. If Upamecano does decide to join Real Madrid, he would likely be a top target for the club’s defense.

With Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba set to leave the club at the end of the season, Real Madrid might look to sign one or more top-class defenders to replace them. Upamecano, along with Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate, are reportedly on their radar.
