Daniel Levy has stepped down as Tottenham Hotspur’s executive chairman after nearly 25 years, marking a new era for the club with Vinai Venkatesham as CEO and Peter Charrington as non-executive chairman.

Daniel Levy has stepped down as executive chairman of Tottenham Hotspur after almost 25 years in the role. Levy, who is 63, leaves the club with a legacy that is both complicated and divisive.

On one hand, he oversaw significant developments, including the construction of a new training ground and stadium, which has become a venue for various events, including concerts, boxing, and NFL games.

The Lewis family, who are the majority shareholders of the club, have assured fans that they are committed to the long-term future of Tottenham Hotspur and have no plans to sell their shares.

In a statement, a source close to the family emphasized their desire for “more wins, more often” and expressed confidence in the new leadership team, led by Vinai Venkatesham as CEO and Thomas Frank as men’s manager.

Levy’s departure comes after a successful spell that saw the club win the League Cup and the Europa League, as well as reach the Champions League final under Mauricio Pochettino. However, his tenure was also marked by criticism from fans for his approach to transfer dealings and his prioritization of profits over trophies.

During his time as chairman, Levy earned more than £50 million and transformed Tottenham into a global football brand. Despite the club’s financial stability, Levy faced fan protests, particularly last season, when Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League.

In a statement, Levy expressed his pride in the work he had done during his tenure, saying, “We have built this club into a global heavyweight competing at the highest level. More than that, we have built a community.” He also thanked the fans for their support, acknowledging that it hadn’t always been an easy journey.

Peter Charrington, who has become non-executive chairman, thanked Levy and his family for their commitment and loyalty to the club over so many years. The club has emphasized that there will be no changes to the ownership or shareholder structure, and the focus is on delivering long-term sporting success.
