Portugal international missed three games but his side remain top of the Saudi Pro League ahead of run-in
Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to action for Al-Nassr after more than a month out with a hamstring injury.
The forward was named in the starting lineup for Friday’s Saudi Pro League clash against Al-Najma, marking his first appearance since being forced off in a 3-1 win over Al-Fayha in February.
At the time, coach Jorge Jesus described the issue as more serious than initially expected. Ronaldo subsequently missed three league matches and travelled to Spain for treatment, while also sitting out Portugal’s pre-World Cup friendlies against Mexico and USA.
Al-Nassr enter the match top of the Saudi Pro League table, holding a three-point lead over Al-Hilal as they continue their push for the title.
Ronaldo is also in contention for the league’s golden boot, currently sitting third in the scoring charts, four goals behind Al-Ahli’s Ivan Toney.
How close is Ronaldo to a first major trophy with Al-Nassr?
Cristiano Ronaldo has not won a major trophy with Al-Nassr since joining the club in 2023. He won the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023, but it is not recognised as a major trophy.
Al-Nassr were beaten by Al-Ahli in the Saudi Super Cup final in Hong Kong last year. Ronaldo scored in normal time and then later converted from the spot in a penalty shootout, but it was not enough to prevent his side from losing 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
The setback came after Al-Nassr had also faltered in the King’s Cup and Super Cup final defeats in 2024.
Since he joined Manchester United in 2003 and kickstarted his famous career, the Portuguese has never played in a club without winning a major trophy, racking up honours in United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
