Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu wants his team to dominate their opponents in the Club World Cup, starting with their upcoming match against Urawa Red Diamonds on Saturday.
After a 1-1 draw against Monterrey in their opening game, Chivu aims to instill a playing style that showcases Inter’s technical ability, character, and personality.

“I think every coach would love a team that dominates,” Chivu said. “You need to show that you can dominate the ball, set the tempo, and find solutions both when moving the ball from side to side and when playing more direct.”
Chivu believes dominating the game is the dream of all coaches, allowing his team to control proceedings and have the game “by the scruff of the neck.” While he hopes to see this style emerge against Urawa, he acknowledges it may take time given his recent arrival at the club.
“We’d like to do this in the near future, maybe even from tomorrow onwards,” Chivu added. “But we’ll need a bit more time to work on things in a certain way.”
