Inter’s coach Cristian Chivu emphasized the importance of pride over tactics as the Nerazzurri prepare to face Juventus in a crucial Serie A match.

Inter coach Cristian Chivu has spoken about the upcoming match against Juventus, highlighting the place of pride in the Derby d’Italia.

Chivu believes that pride is worth more than all the tactics, and he relies on the pride of his players to drive them forward. The Nerazzurri have had a mixed start to the season, with one win and one loss in the opening two games.

Chivu previewed the match against Juventus at a press conference on Friday, emphasising the importance of having the right energy to read the match. He acknowledged that the international break can give teams an extra boost in terms of mentality, and he is confident that his squad is ready to play.

Chivu also spoke about the challenge of facing Juventus, saying that it’s a different situation compared to when he beat Igor Tudor’s team four months ago while coaching Parma.

The Inter coach emphasised that he doesn’t make comparisons between the two teams, acknowledging that Juventus has done a great job under Tudor and has a distinct identity. Chivu believes that Inter needs mental clarity and shouldn’t have extra pressure, focusing on the pride and motivation of his players. He also highlighted the importance of intelligence in understanding what the team can do, rather than trying to turn everything upside down.

He also praised the signing of Manuel Akanji, saying that the Swiss defender is an important player with international value and stature. Akanji is expected to start against Juventus, and Chivu believes that all his players are essential to contributing to the pursuit of their goals.
