Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu commended his team’s mentality and tactics in their 1-0 win over Roma.
Inter Milan’s 1-0 win over Roma was a testament to the team’s mental strength and tactical prowess, according to coach Cristian Chivu.
The Nerazzurri’s victory marked their sixth consecutive win in all competitions, and Chivu praised his players for their resilience and determination.
“These lads deserve all the credit, as they left disappointment behind them, put themselves back up for the challenge after last season, and want to prove they can compete in every tournament,” Chivu said. He emphasized the team’s mental preparation and ability to adapt to different situations.
Inter’s high press caused problems for Roma’s defense, and Chivu highlighted this as one of the biggest tactical changes he has brought to the team. “We are trying to do this, and it doesn’t always work out,” he said, acknowledging the challenges of implementing this approach.
Roma’s strength and home advantage made them a tough opponent, but Inter’s intensity and focus paid off. Ange-Yoan Bonny’s goal, which sprang the offside trap and surprised the Roma defense, proved decisive.
Chivu praised his team’s ability to understand the moment and adjust their approach. “We did it quite well in the first half, then lost intensity after the break and were forced to sit deeper, but we still understood that moment, focusing on the defense and counter-attacks.”
The win has propelled Inter to the top of the Serie A table, alongside Napoli and Roma, with 15 points.
Chivu’s comments reflect his pride in the team’s progress and mentality. “I am proud of the way they are working, how they prepare mentally for certain games,” he said, highlighting the team’s growth and development.
