Antonio Conte praised Napoli’s performance and “great signs” after a 2-0 win over Lazio, while refusing to be drawn into discussions about January transfer activity.

Antonio Conte believes Napoli are showing clear signs of progress after a convincing 2-0 victory away to Lazio on Sunday, a result that lifted the Partenopei back into second place in the Serie A standings.

Goals from Leonardo Spinazzola and Amir Rrahmani sealed the win at the Stadio Olimpico, marking Conte’s first competitive victory over Maurizio Sarri and underlining Napoli’s growing authority against top opposition.

Speaking to the media after the match, Conte first addressed the injury concern surrounding David Neres, who was forced off in the 70th minute with what he described as a “freak” issue.

“For Neres, we’ll have to wait for tomorrow’s tests. It’s not a muscular problem,” Conte explained. “We hope it’s nothing serious, because we’ve been dealing with injuries for a long time.”

Turning his attention to the performance, Conte was full of praise for his players, highlighting their ability to control the match and limit Lazio’s influence despite the quality in Sarri’s side. “I have to congratulate the lads,” he said. “Playing with this level of technical ability and physical strength without letting Lazio play is not easy. It was a very high-quality performance.”

Conte also discussed his tactical approach, particularly Napoli’s effectiveness down the right flank, before reiterating his satisfaction with the team’s overall development despite ongoing challenges.

“We’re showing great signs,” Conte added. “The victories are coming against strong teams. What we need is there for all to see — my job is to make the most of what I have, and together we’ll try to do our best.”
