Roma made a bright start and took the lead inside the opening 10 minutes after Stephan El Shaarawy was brought down in the penalty area by Diego Carlos following a misplaced pass from Sergi Roberto. Referee Davide Massa quickly pointed to the spot.
Donyell Malen stepped up and calmly converted the penalty, taking his league tally to seven goals since joining Roma in January and becoming the club’s top scorer in Serie A this season.
Despite falling behind early, Como gradually took control of the game and created several chances before the break. However, Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar produced key saves to keep the hosts at bay, including strong stops against Nico Paz and Alex Valle.
Como finally found their breakthrough early in the second half after manager Cesc Fàbregas introduced Anastasios Douvikas from the bench. The striker timed his run perfectly to latch onto Valle’s through ball and fired a powerful shot through Svilar’s legs to level the match.
Roma’s problems worsened when Wesley França was shown a second yellow card for a foul on substitute Assane Diao, leaving the visitors with ten men and inviting sustained pressure from the hosts.
Como eventually completed the comeback when Diego Carlos redeemed his earlier mistake by finishing from close range after Svilar had initially denied Ivan Smolčić. The victory marked a fourth straight league win for Como, while Roma’s poor run continued ahead of their UEFA Europa League clash with Bologna later this week.
