Chelsea fans would be ecstatic after seeing their team run out 3-1 winners over Liverpool in the Premier League.

They would even be more glad to see Cole Palmer get on the score sheet after being on a goal drought since January.

Liverpool had already claimed the Premier League, and coming into this match, they had nothing to fight for. The Reds made a few changes to the starting XI, but they still looked like a good match for Chelsea.

Chelsea made a statement from the beginning by scoring a goal in the third minute. It was their earliest goal in the Premier League this season, and it paved the way for how the match turned out. 

Chelsea added a second goal after a stunning drive from Cole Palmer to get past Tsimikas before dropping a pass. The clearance from Van Dijk hit Quansah and bounced back into the net. 

Palmer was in his best form in a long time. Chelsea were playing at their best, and their star man was at the helm of things. He popped up in spaces, drove past players with ease and was very important to restoring Chelsea’s lead after conceding from a corner.

Palmer, who was brilliant the whole match, even winning the man of the match award, just lacked a goal for his efforts. He was denied first by Jones, who made a brilliant tackle in the first half before seeing his shot saved by Alisson in the second half. 

However, he finally got his name on the score sheet. Caicedo was brought down in the box and from the penalty spot, Palmer got his first goal in 19 games, bringing his goal drought to an end.

The English midfielder has once again silenced doubters while still earning his place in the Premier League team of the season. For all the talk of him being a ‘one-season wonder’, he has proved that he’s worth the attention.
