Chelsea has given Borussia Dortmund permission to sign Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Anselmino, with Chukwuemeka set to join permanently for £24m and Anselmino on a season-long loan.

Chelsea has granted Borussia Dortmund permission to finalize deals for midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka and defender Aaron Anselmino.

Chukwuemeka is expected to sign permanently with Dortmund for a fee rising to approximately £24 million, including a significant sell-on clause.

This deal would bring Chelsea’s player sales income this summer to over £270 million, specifically £273.4 million, which would nearly balance out the £277 million spent on incoming transfers.

The 21-year-old Chukwuemeka spent the second half of last season on loan at Dortmund and was keen on returning to the Westfalenstadion despite interest from RB Leipzig. He has played 32 matches for Chelsea since joining in a £20 million move from Aston Villa in 2022.

Meanwhile, Anselmino has agreed to join Dortmund on a season-long loan deal without any option to buy clauses.

The Argentine defender was informed by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca that he needed a loan move to gain playing time amid competition in the Chelsea first-team squad.

Anselmino’s loan move will also help Dortmund cover the recent injuries of defenders Niklas Sule, Emre Can, and Nico Schlotterbeck.

Anselmino joined Chelsea from Boca Juniors in January for £15.6 million and made a single substitute appearance at the Club World Cup. Despite being loaned out, Anselmino remains an important part of Chelsea’s future planning.
