Cristian Chivu applauded Inter’s mature 2-0 win over Cremonese and addressed the Frattesi transfer rumours.
Cristian Chivu praised Inter’s composure and game management after their 2-0 away victory over Cremonese, describing the performance as “mature” and controlled. The result helped Inter extend their lead at the top of the Serie A table.
The Nerazzurri effectively settled the contest before half-time. Lautaro opened the scoring with a free header from a Federico Dimarco corner, before Zielinski doubled the lead with a powerful long-range effort that dipped under the crossbar to give Inter a comfortable cushion at the break.
The match was briefly overshadowed by an incident involving the crowd, as a firework thrown from the Inter supporters struck Cremonese goalkeeper Emil Audero. Although visibly shaken and left with a cut and burn mark on his leg, Audero was able to continue and complete the game, allowing play to resume without further disruption.

Reflecting on the performance, Chivu highlighted his team’s understanding of key moments. He noted that Inter remained in control throughout, even if they were occasionally slowed by Cremonese’s deep defensive setup. While energy levels dipped in the second half, Chivu stressed that securing the win was the priority, and his side delivered.
The match also saw Frattesi handed a rare start in midfield due to injuries to Barella, Calhanoglu, Dumfries, and Carlos Augusto. Recent reports had linked Frattesi with a move to Nottingham Forest, but Chivu firmly dismissed any suggestion of an exit.
“Frattesi is an important player for Inter,” Chivu insisted, echoing President Beppe Marotta’s stance. He emphasised the club’s trust in the midfielder, adding that Frattesi will be crucial in the decisive months of the season, providing extra quality and energy when needed.

Inter’s win extends their lead at the top of Serie A to eight points, pending second-placed Milan’s match against Bologna. Chivu also addressed the wider debate about fixture congestion, acknowledging the risks of injuries but accepting them as part of competing on multiple fronts, while admitting he is eager for the transfer window to finally close.
