Cristian Chivu hailed the character and maturity of Inter Milan after their dramatic 4-3 comeback victory over Como. The Nerazzurri overturned a two-goal deficit to strengthen their grip on the Serie A title race.

Inter found themselves trailing 2-0 at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia after goals from Alex Valle and Nico Paz. However, a brace from Marcus Thuram and two more from Denzel Dumfries turned the match around before a late penalty from Lucas Da Cunha added late tension.

Chivu admitted his side struggled early on against an energetic Como team, praising their intensity and attacking play. He noted that Inter had difficulty coping with their pace and pressing in the first half.

The turning point came when Inter pulled a goal back before halftime, which Chivu said boosted the team’s confidence. After the break, he saw a clear improvement as his players raised their level and showed resilience to complete the comeback. Set pieces played a crucial role in the victory, with Chivu revealing that the team had specifically worked on them in training. He credited both his staff and players for executing those routines effectively during the match.

Despite the absence of Lautaro Martínez due to injury, Inter continued their impressive scoring form, surpassing 100 goals in all competitions this season. Chivu highlighted the team’s attacking strength and ability to adapt even without key players.

The result, combined with Napoli dropping points and AC Milan suffering defeat, has moved Inter nine points clear at the top. However, Chivu downplayed talk of the title being secured, jokingly echoing the cautious approach often taken by rivals like Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri.

Chivu also praised Dumfries’ impact after his return from injury, noting how his physical presence and timing in the box add a different dimension to Inter’s attack. With momentum firmly on their side, Inter appear increasingly confident as they push toward securing the Scudetto.
