Chelsea may now be committed to buying Jadon Sancho permanently after their dramatic win over Fulham on Sunday.
The 25-year-old winger joined from Manchester United on loan last summer, with a clause that required Chelsea to purchase him for £25 million if they finished 15th or higher in the Premier League.
While Sancho has struggled to make a big impact, scoring only three times in 33 games, the win appears to have activated the buyout clause.
However, reports suggest Chelsea might still pull out of the deal by paying a £5 million release fee.
For now, manager Enzo Maresca has kept quiet about Sancho’s future, saying the club is focused on finishing the season well.
