Dortmund reject Chelsea’s bid for their U21 star

Chelsea’s €35 million bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens has been rejected, with the Bundesliga club demanding €50-60 million for the 20-year-old England U21 international.

Despite the rejection, negotiations are ongoing between the two parties, and a new bid from Chelsea is expected.

Gittens has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea and wants to join the Blues to play in the Club World Cup. However, Chelsea needs to finalize the deal by Tuesday to register Gittens for the tournament, as Dortmund will also participate.

The west London club are looking to strengthen their winger position following the decision not to take up the option to sign Jadon Sancho permanently.

The 20-year-old winger was a target for Chelsea in January, and despite losing his place in Dortmund’s starting XI towards the end of the season, he has remained high on Chelsea’s list of attacking targets. With a significant gap between Chelsea’s bid and Dortmund’s valuation, the transfer negotiations are set to be challenging.
