Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to sign Bournemouth’s 20-year-old centre-back Dean Huijsen, aiming to finalize the deal before the Club World Cup commences on June 16.

The Blues are prepared to activate Huijsen’s £50 million release clause to secure his services. Despite interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham, Chelsea’s proactive approach positions them as frontrunners.

Huijsen, who joined Bournemouth from Juventus for €15.2 million last summer, has impressed in his debut Premier League season. He has made 27 league appearances and earned a call-up to the Spanish national team.

His performances have attracted attention from top European clubs, including Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

However, Real Madrid’s hesitation to pursue the defender this summer has opened the door for Premier League clubs to make their move.

Chelsea’s interest aligns with their strategy to bolster their defense with young talent.

Securing Huijsen would strengthen their backline and ensure his availability for the Club World Cup, providing an opportunity for the defender to gain international experience. The Blues are keen to finalize the transfer promptly to integrate Huijsen into the squad ahead of the tournament.
