The race for Champions League is as tough as ever and today, Chelsea have added more fire into the fray after taking all three points from the match against Everton.
It was a slow and drabby affair but Chelsea won’t mind because they took what was necessary, all three points.
Chelsea faced Everton at home, and they had one clear mission: to win. The Blues were without head coach Enzo Maresca on the sidelines, who was serving a ban after collecting three yellow cards, but that didn’t stop them from doing what needed to be done.
From the opening minutes of the match, Chelsea were pushing for a goal. Everton were solid defensively but the speed and precise manner in which the Blues attacked, Everton started to show little cracks.
In the 27th minute, Chelsea took the lead through a long range strike from Jackson. A strike that was enough to see them win the game as they controlled the game from start to finish.
Jackson had another goal but it was called off as he had strayed offside. Noni Madueke was firing on all cylinders today and he tested Pickford a couple of times. The Everton goalkeeper was brilliant in keeping the scoreline at 1-0.
Sanchez on the other hand had a quiet game but when called upon in the 60th minute and towards the end of the game, he was equal to the task.
Chelsea are now back in the top 4 with 60 points on the log. This win keeps them in the conversation for Champions League football and going by the words of Enzo Maresca, the team will try to make it to the Champions League next season.
