Chelsea have assured Reece James and Marc Cucurella that experienced signings will be made in defence, midfield, and attack this summer.

Chelsea have reportedly reassured senior players Reece James and Marc Cucurella that three key signings will arrive during the summer transfer window. The club’s leadership has privately indicated that the recruitment strategy will focus on players with proven Premier League experience.

This marks a potential shift in approach from Chelsea’s recent youth-focused policy. With head coach Liam Rosenior seeking greater leadership within the squad, the club is aiming to bring in experienced figures capable of handling high-pressure situations.

The first priority is a starting-level central defender, an area that has caused problems this season. Injuries to Levi Colwill have exposed a lack of depth, prompting the club to look for a reliable option to strengthen the back line.

In midfield, the anticipated arrival of Valentín Barco from RC Strasbourg is expected to add versatility. However, uncertainty remains over the long-term future of Enzo Fernández, which could influence Chelsea’s transfer plans in the middle of the pitch.

Up front, the Blues are searching for a clinical finisher to support João Pedro. Meanwhile, Liam Delap has struggled to fully adapt following his move to Stamford Bridge, increasing the urgency for reinforcements in attacking areas.

Both James and Cucurella have recently committed their futures to the club, with the captain signing a deal running until 2032. Reports suggest the club’s hierarchy has promised experienced additions at centre-back, midfield, and attack, though failing to deliver could risk damaging trust with the senior players.

Following James’ contract extension, Chelsea are also keen to secure the futures of Colwill and Moisés Caicedo. The club are eager to ward off interest particularly from Real Madrid in Caicedo, while viewing Colwill as a long-term cornerstone after his return to full fitness.
