Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink calls on Chelsea to back Liam Rosenior and trust the long-term vision of BlueCo.
Former Chelsea player and legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has urged Chelsea to show patience with head coach Liam Rosenior, insisting the manager deserves time to implement his ideas. The former striker believes stability is key if the club are to succeed under the current project.
Hasselbaink also encouraged BlueCo to remain committed to their long-term vision. He warned that constantly changing managers would only disrupt progress and prevent the team from developing a clear identity.
Backing Rosenior’s credentials, Hasselbaink expressed confidence in the young coach’s ability. He emphasised that Rosenior understands the game and has the qualities required to succeed at Stamford Bridge if properly supported.
The Chelsea legend highlighted how frequent managerial changes can negatively affect players. According to him, uncertainty in leadership often leads to inconsistent performances and undermines confidence within the squad.
He also pointed out that when players know a manager has full authority, their mentality shifts. Greater clarity over leadership, he argued, encourages professionalism and ensures players respond more effectively to coaching decisions.
Hasselbaink stressed that Rosenior must be given the power to shape the team, even during challenging periods. He believes removing unnecessary pressure would allow the manager to focus on implementing his philosophy.
Chelsea are on a run of four consecutive losses since their 5-2 loss to PSG in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16. They have lost to Newcastle, PSG in the second leg and Everton consecutively. It could be a fifth straight loss if they somehow lose to Port Vale in the FA Cup semifinals. Rosenior has the backing of the club but will need to turn results and secure Champions League qualification because if things somehow get worse before the season ends, he could be shown the way out.
