Chelsea Interested in Signing Gianluigi Donnarumma

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, with the Italian international entering the final year of his contract.

Donnarumma has been in excellent form for PSG, registering 12 clean sheets in the 2024-25 season as the team won the treble. His impressive performances have caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City.

Donnarumma’s current contract expires in June 2026, and PSG has already sent a first renewal proposal to the goalkeeper.

Despite his desire to stay at PSG, expressed earlier this year, the Italian’s future at Parc des Princes remains uncertain. “I feel good here, and everyone likes me and holds me in esteem,” Donnarumma said. “My priority is to extend [my contract] here.”

The 26-year-old goalkeeper’s valuation is estimated to be around £35 million, although PSG’s asking price would likely be significantly higher. Chelsea’s interest in Donnarumma comes after their failed attempt to sign AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, who reportedly rejected a move to Stamford Bridge due to a £20 million asking price.

Donnarumma’s potential departure would not come without a challenge, as PSG would likely demand a substantial transfer fee.

However, if Donnarumma were to leave on a free transfer next summer, Chelsea might be able to secure his services without breaking the bank. Donnarumma would be able to negotiate a free transfer away from PSG as soon as January, but any willing club would have to be a European suitor.
