Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is considering an exit during the winter transfer window to get more playing time.
Filip Jorgensen, Chelsea’s talented young goalkeeper, is thinking of leaving the club in January to get more game time. The 23-year-old has struggled for consistent opportunities at Stamford Bridge, making only four appearances this season.
Jorgensen joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2024 for £20.7m, attracted by Enzo Maresca’s desire for a goalkeeper comfortable playing out from the back. However, Robert Sanchez has been the preferred choice, leaving Jorgensen on the bench.
With Denmark’s World Cup play-off looming, Jorgensen needs regular football to stay competitive. Veteran Kasper Schmeichel is currently ahead of him in the national team pecking order.
Jorgensen’s departure would force Chelsea to reassess their goalkeeping department. The Blues could reignite their interest in AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, who enters the final months of his contract.
Chelsea has no plans to sanction a loan exit for Jorgensen, meaning he might have to force a permanent move. The club is unlikely to sell unless an attractive offer arrives.
