Chelsea are heading into their crucial UEFA Conference League semi-final with a growing sense of confidence, and not just because of their form on the pitch.

The Blues have received a major injury boost, with Romeo Lavia making a surprise return to the starting lineup during the 1-0 win over Everton last weekend.

It was a huge moment for Lavia, who had endured a frustrating, injury-hit season. He completed over an hour before being replaced by Reece James, showing that he’s ready to be a key part of Enzo Maresca’s plans during the final stretch of the season.

His return not only adds strength to Chelsea’s midfield but also gives Maresca more options as they try to finish the season with silverware and secure European qualification.

Chelsea’s injury list, which had been a major problem earlier this season, is finally starting to clear up, and the timing could not be better.

Malo Gusto’s situation and Maresca’s update

Another player Chelsea fans were concerned about was Malo Gusto, who missed the Everton game after picking up a knock in the previous win against Fulham. However, manager Enzo Maresca moved quickly to ease any fears about the right-back’s condition.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Maresca said:
“Malo is injured, but it does not look like an important injury. He’s already running and doing things outside, but he won’t be available for tomorrow. Hopefully, he can be available for the next one.”

Gusto’s absence is expected to be short-term, meaning he could return in time for the second leg of the Conference League semi-final or one of Chelsea’s important Premier League matches coming up.

With key players like Lavia and Gusto returning, and Reece James also building up his minutes, Chelsea’s squad is looking stronger at just the right time. The belief is growing around Stamford Bridge — not just for a European trophy, but for an even brighter next season under Maresca.
