The Blues weigh up signing AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, but they remain unwilling to pay his valuation price of £25 million.
Chelsea is in talks to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, but a potential deal is complicated by the club’s valuation of the France international.
According to reports, AC Milan wants around £25 million (€30m) to sell Maignan, whose contract at the San Siro expires next summer. However, Chelsea is not willing to meet this asking price, considering Maignan’s age and the fact that he has one year left on his contract.
The Blues believe the asking price is too high for a 29-year-old with limited time remaining on his deal. Maignan has yet to commit to an extension with AC Milan, which has alerted Chelsea to the possibility of securing a deal. However, so far, there has been no formal bid from the Blues.
If Maignan were to join Chelsea, it would likely mean a shake-up in the goalkeeper department.
The Blues currently have five goalkeepers on their books, but Maignan’s arrival would see him challenging for the No 1 jersey. For a deal to happen, AC Milan would need to reconsider its valuation, and Chelsea would need to be convinced that Maignan is worth the investment.
