Chelsea holds a recall option on Borussia Dortmund’s Aaron Anselmino, allowing them to bring the 20-year-old defender back to Stamford Bridge in January.
Chelsea has a recall option on Aaron Anselmino, who is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund. This means they can bring the 20-year-old defender back to Stamford Bridge in January if they choose to exercise the option.
The recall clause was included in the loan agreement between Chelsea and Dortmund, and it’s linked to a pre-agreed minimum number of minutes Anselmino was required to play for Dortmund. Unfortunately, he hasn’t met that threshold, so the option remains valid
Anselmino was close to hitting the required minutes before suffering a thigh injury that ruled him out of matches against Freiburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach. So far this season, he’s featured in 10 of Dortmund’s 22 competitive matches, accumulating 564 minutes.
Chelsea values Anselmino highly and sees him as part of their long-term plans. The club is monitoring his progress and will decide whether to integrate him into their first team in the summer.
Dortmund would likely be interested in doing another loan deal or making a permanent transfer, but Chelsea has reportedly informed them that Anselmino is not for sale.
