Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca receives a one-match touchline ban and £8,000 fine for misconduct during their 2-1 win over Liverpool.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been handed a one-match touchline ban and a fine of £8,000 ($10,689) after admitting a charge of misconduct during their 2-1 victory over Liverpool.

The FA announced the decision on Wednesday, citing Maresca’s improper behavior and abusive language during the match.

Maresca’s wild celebration after Chelsea’s late winner earned him a second yellow card and dismissal from referee Anthony Taylor. The Italian boss sprinted down the touchline, joining his players in a jubilant pile-up near the corner flag.

The FA statement alleged that Maresca acted improperly and used abusive language, leading to his dismissal around the 96th minute. Maresca admitted the charge and accepted the standard penalty.

This isn’t Maresca’s first touchline ban; he previously received one in April 2025 after picking up a third yellow card of the season.

Maresca will miss Chelsea’s next Premier League game away at Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Chelsea currently sits seventh in the standings with 11 points, five behind leaders Arsenal.

Although Maresca won’t be on the touchline, FA regulations allow him to enter the dressing room before kick-off, at half-time, and after full-time, and communicate remotely with his coaching staff.
