“The plane doesn’t fly backwards,” those were the words of Nicolas Jackson’s agent after his loan move from Chelsea to Bayern Munich nearly collapsed.

Nicolas Jackson was very close to returning to Chelsea after his loan move to Bayern Munich at the start of the season nearly fell through. His agent had to fight to preserve the deal, almost burning the bridge between Jackson and Stamford Bridge.

In light of the deal, Chelsea added a clause that if Jackson starts 40 games, Bayern Munich would be obligated to buy him for around €65 million.

At the beginning of the loan and in the winter transfer window, Bayern Munich reiterated that they won’t be keeping Jackson at the club permanently, and it raises the question: Will Jackson still have a spot at Chelsea?

The Attack Roster at Chelsea?

Chelsea have spent heavily in the attacking department, bringing in Gittens, Garnacho, Joao Pedro, and Delap all in one window. The club has also bought Emmanuel Emaghe from  Strasbourg, and he is expected to join the Bles next season.

On paper, the chances of Jackson returning and finding a playing spot are very slim.

Joao Pedro, who was brought in his stead, has turned out to be a revelation for Chelsea, hitting double digits for Chelsea. He is the main striker at the ckub while Liam Delap plays the supporting role.

The former Ipswich striker has been underwhelming for Chelsea, but Jackson would have to fight for that second spot with Emmanuel Emegha.

While the roster looks tight, there is still a way for Jackson to come back. Manager Liam Rosenior might take a shine to him, or a surprise injury could force the club’s hand. However, with several talented strikers already on board, Jackson’s chances seem limited.

What are Jackson’s Choices?

Jackson’s loan spell at Bayern Munich has given him valuable experience, and he’ll be looking for a permanent move that offers him regular playing time. Clubs like Aston Villa and Juventus could provide him with the opportunity he’s looking for.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Jackson’s future will become clearer. For now, it seems likely that he’ll be moving on from Chelsea, but the door isn’t entirely closed on a return to Stamford Bridge.
