Chelsea now have four red cards in their last five games. It can’t get worse, can it?
Recently, the favorite color at Stamford Bridge isn’t blue, it’s red. Since the 2-1 loss to Manchester United, Chelsea have been on a red card spree, and today, Malo Gusto was the latest victim.
Gusto’s red card today makes it the fifth red card Chelsea have received in their last 6 games. Robert Sanchez got a red against Manchester United, Chalobah vs. Brighton, João Pedro vs. Benfica, and Enzo Maresca vs. Liverpool.
The record for most red cards in a Premier League season is 9 (Sunderland in 2009/10 and Queens Park Rangers in 2011/12).
Currently, Chelsea have four red cards in five Premier League games, and it’s just matchday 8. If they continue like this, they could go on to break the record.
