Bukayo Saka spoke of the team’s mentality in their 1-0 win over Fulham, highlighting their ability to win in any context and overcome tough starts.
Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has spoken about the team’s mentality in their 1-0 win over Fulham, emphasizing their ability to win in any context.
Saka acknowledged the team’s tough start to the game but praised their experience and ability to turn things around. “We didn’t start the game how we expected and how we wanted to, but we have the experience now to understand after coming here a few years and not got the results that we wanted, but today we were able to turn that around and show that we can win at the end,” he said.
The win feels significant to Saka, who highlighted Arsenal’s progress in picking up points against tough opponents.
“This season we’ve beaten Newcastle, who we’ve struggled against in the past away, West Ham as well, who we had problems with at home, and now Fulham away, we’ve struggled with, so it’s points that we’ve been picking up that in recent seasons they’ve been picking up, so we’re happy with us as well,” he added.
Saka was pleased with his own performance, feeling he grew into the game and made an impact. He also praised Gabriel’s contribution to the goal, which came from a set piece.
“Yeah, yeah, he helps, it helped. We’ve got some big guys in the box… I put it in, and it was a nice delivery, Gabriel got the touch, and we got the goal, so I’m very happy with that,” Saka said.
Saka also mentioned that he believes the team can win regardless of the circumstances, whether dominating possession or struggling. “Any context, we win. That’s the mentality for us. We showed that today. We started poor, and in the end, we won,” Saka emphasized.
Saka dismissed criticism that Arsenal is a defense-first team, saying people can have their opinions, but ultimately, it’s up to the team to prove themselves. He pointed to the team’s attacking firepower, citing himself and other attackers as among the best in the Premier League.
