Bournemouth has made a move to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, with negotiations remaining positive despite the offer not being accepted.
Bournemouth has bid for Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, with the 25-year-old keen to leave Stamford Bridge to become a first-team starter.
The Cherries have been tracking Petrovic’s situation for over a year and are looking to sign a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga, who joined Arsenal permanently after his loan spell with Bournemouth last season.
While Bournemouth’s offer for Petrovic hasn’t been accepted, negotiations remain positive. The club is aware of an image rights issue. The Serbian international is valued at around £25m and agreed to an initial seven-year contract with Chelsea in 2023.
Petrovic has been seeking a move away from Stamford Bridge, opting against a call-up to Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad.
Bournemouth’s interest in Petrovic is part of their efforts to strengthen their goalkeeper position.
The Cherries lost Kepa Arrizabalaga to Arsenal, and Petrovic’s experience and talent would be a significant boost to the team. Petrovic has made substantial improvements in his game, particularly with his footwork, during his loan spell in Ligue 1.
There is also interest in Petrovic from other clubs, including Sunderland, Monaco, and Strasbourg. Strasbourg, which is owned by the same Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership group as Chelsea, won the player of the season award for Petrovic during his successful loan spell. The French club may have an advantage in signing Petrovic due to their connection with the player and the ownership group.
