Borussia Dortmund are reportedly keeping tabs on Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi, whose contract expires this summer, with several top European clubs also interested in the Argentine defender.

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly tracking AFC Bournemouth centre-half Marcos Senesi as they assess potential defensive reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old Argentine has emerged as an intriguing option for the Bundesliga side, particularly with uncertainty surrounding the future of Nico Schlotterbeck.

According to reports, Senesi is viewed internally as a highly attractive target for the Ruhr giants. With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Dortmund see a potential opportunity to secure an experienced defender without paying a transfer fee, needing only to cover a signing-on bonus.

There is an increased feeling that Senesi could join Dortmund as he is seen as a replacement should Schlotterbeck depart Signal Iduna Park. The German international has been linked with interest from abroad, and Dortmund are believed to be preparing contingency plans.

Dortmund have also seen Chelsea defender Aaron Anselmino return back to his parent club after spending half the season on loan at the Signal Iduna Park. With Anselmino gone, Dortmund can’t afford to lose Schlotterbeck and if they do, they must get a defender in as soon as possible.

Senesi’s profile is said to closely mirror that of Schlotterbeck, particularly in his ability to contribute in possession. Known for his progressive passing and composure on the ball, the Argentine has registered four assists in 24 appearances this season, a huge return for a central defender.

Financially, the deal is considered appealing. With his Bournemouth contract nearing its expiry, Dortmund would avoid a transfer fee, making the move a cost-effective solution in a market where defensive options often command high prices.

The defender also has existing ties to Germany, as he is represented by German-based agency ROOF. That connection could help smooth negotiations should Dortmund decide to formalise their interest in the coming months.

However, BVB are far from alone in monitoring the situation. Juventus, Roma, Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton and Crystal Palace are all reportedly keeping an eye on Senesi’s availability, setting up what could become a competitive race for his signature once the transfer window opens.
