Borussia Dortmund secured a 4-1 victory over Athletic Club in the Champions League, extending their unbeaten start to the season with a convincing win.

Borussia Dortmund maintained their impressive form with a 4-1 win over Athletic Club in the Champions League. The victory marked Dortmund’s first win in the competition’s league phase and extended their unbeaten streak.

The hosts took the lead in the 28th minute when Daniel Svensson scored with a precise finish after Karim Adeyemi delivered a perfectly weighted cross. Adeyemi’s pace and skill on the right flank proved too much for Athletic’s defense, and Svensson’s goal was the perfect reward for Dortmund’s attacking play.

Athletic boss Ernesto Valverde attempted to revive his team’s fortunes with a triple substitution at halftime. However, Dortmund doubled their advantage just five minutes into the second half.

Carney Chukwuemeka, making his full debut, scored his first European goal with a low shot that took a slight deflection and beat Unai Simon at his near post.

Athletic pulled one back in the 61st minute when Gorka Guruzeta scored with a clinical finish after a defensive mix-up between Niklas Sule and Waldemar Anton. Despite the setback, Dortmund regained control and sealed the win with Marcel Sabitzer’s 20-yard shot bouncing in off Serhou Guirassy in the 82nd minute.

Julian Brandt added a fourth goal in injury time with a powerful low strike from just inside the penalty area, giving the scoreline a flattering feel.

Dortmund’s victory extends their unbeaten start to the season, with six wins and two draws from eight games in all competitions. The team has now lost only one of their previous 19 Champions League home matches, winning 12 and drawing six. Athletic, on the other hand, has begun their Champions League campaign with two defeats.
