If finalized, Schlotterbeck’s current deal, which runs until 2027, would be extended by four years to 2031, reinforcing Dortmund’s commitment to keeping one of their defensive pillars for the long term.
The proposed agreement would significantly improve the centre-back’s earnings, with the German international set to receive up to €14 million per year, including performance-related bonuses. The new contract is also expected to feature a €60 million release clause. Reports suggest that the clause would only become active from 2027 onward, giving Dortmund protection during the early years of the deal.
Newly appointed sporting director Ole Book is believed to be awaiting Schlotterbeck’s final approval before completing the process, as the club aims to secure the defender’s future quickly.
Dortmund are hopeful the agreement will be finalized soon, with plans to officially announce the extension in early April if the remaining formalities are completed successfully.
