Karim Adeyemi has been sanctioned by Borussia Dortmund and the German Football Association (DFB) for illegal possession of weapons, including a brass knuckle set and a taser.

Karim Adeyemi, the Borussia Dortmund forward, has been sanctioned by his club and the German Football Association (DFB) after being fined €450,000 for illegal possession of weapons. The 23-year-old German international had ordered a “mystery box” online, which contained prohibited items, including a brass knuckle set and a taser.

Adeyemi has apologised for his actions, saying he was careless and didn’t think about the consequences. “I know that I am in the public eye and have a responsibility to be a role model. I did not live up to that,” he said in a statement.

As part of his sanction, Adeyemi will visit Dortmund’s Nordstadtliga in the coming weeks and participate in training sessions with children. Borussia Dortmund managing director for sport, Lars Ricken, emphasised that the club takes such matters seriously and has spoken to Adeyemi about his behaviour.

Ricken added that Adeyemi deeply regrets his mistake and has promised not to repeat it. “We trust him to stick to that,” Ricken said.

The DFB is also reviewing the situation and may impose additional internal sanctions on Adeyemi. The incident has sparked concerns about the player’s future, with some critics questioning his judgment and maturity.
