Bodo/Glimt pulled off a stunning 3-1 victory over Serie A leaders Inter Milan in the first leg of their Champions League knockout stage playoff, putting the Italian giants on the brink of exit.
Kasper Hogh was the hero of the night, scoring one goal and assisting two others as Bodo/Glimt took a crucial two-goal advantage into the second leg at the San Siro
The Norwegian side took the lead in the 20th minute when Hogh’s backheel set up Sondre Brunstad Fet, who calmly slotted the ball past Yann Sommer.
Inter equalized 10 minutes later through 20-year-old Pio Esposito, who turned sharply inside the box to fire in after Carlos Augusto’s through ball.
Despite dominating possession after the break, Inter struggled to break down Bodo/Glimt’s defense. The hosts struck again on the hour mark when Hogh squared to Jens Petter Hauge, who fired a powerful shot into the top corner. Hogh then scored the third goal three minutes later, converting from close range after Ole Didrik Blomberg’s precise assist.
Inter had chances to get back into the game, but they were denied in front of goal. The Norwegian side’s resolute defending in the final minutes secured a famous victory, marking their third consecutive win in the Champions League.
